Subject: Meeting
In order to save money, we should have the meeting at the Econ center, Marks St., my house, a church, a school, but not way out in Waterford lakes where hardly and one lives, and the traffic lights are ridiculous.
Next time we should ask the person in charge of traffic lights, etc.
Tim McKinney was interesting to say the leist. Peter told him he sounds like a democrat. I support Peter.
Not once did he say how would handle the problems he sited. There are numerous problems in the County and the world. God put us here knowing we will ave problems. No once did he say “who we are”. We are the people who do the repairs. After you left he said he will correct anybody who disagrees with him as if he is 100% right just because he thought of it.
He continued to change the subject. He didn’t make it easy to contact him setting up the same pattern now where we can’t reach our commissioner now, except Pete Clark.
He feels sorry for people. We all do, but feeling sorry only is the 1st step for Rep, Dem feel sorry but that is all they do.
We need to have a meeting before we vote for this guy. One member there said he presented his story well. I disagree, he was so enthused with himself, changed the subject often and over talked he didn’t do well answering questions . He wanted to argue.
Donald, first of all, thank you for making the trip. City traffic can be cumbersome but our location does permit you to avoid much of it. Our office is only two traffic lights north of the East West Expressway’s Alafaya exit.
Our Activity Center allows us to do more than just hold meetings. We have training courses (such as on the 5000 Year Leap or We Still Hold These Truths). We have held NRA classes and we just finished two sessions of HAM radio courses. Our office has been the site of candidate training, precinct walk headquarters, phone banks, town halls, debates, debate watch parties and even movie nights. It would be challenging to do all of these things around the schedules, facility limitations and permission of a third party venue.
Our location was deliberately selected to serve the population in East Orange and East Seminole Counties. Before we began, the people who became our founding members had to travel over 45 minutes away (at highway speeds) to the West Orlando Tea Party. Most of our regular attendees live near East Orlando, UCF, Waterford, Avalon Park, Oviedo and Chuluota. We also draw from Lake Nona, Wedgefield, Bithlo and Christmas. Driving to a downtown Orlando location would be more inconvenient to our base population.
While I cannot discuss the financial agreements we have online, I can assure you we would not save money if we tried to provide the same services as nomads. We would need a way to store our chairs, display, tables and more. Plus we would need to be able to transport these materials, set them up and tear them down each time. Venues like the Marks Senior Center do have chairs but most homes are not sufficiently equipped. 30-60 attendees is not an uncommon expectation at one of our events. We have had over 80. Few homes and neighborhoods would welcome so many. If we were able to secure the Marks Senior Center for our meetings, the cost would be at least 99.00 each time plus the cost of off-site monthly storage. We would not have our supplies on hand, our printer, our computer, plus organizations and candidates could not leave materials so that future attendees could see them. We would also need to inconvenience and organize a crew of volunteers to setup and clean up after every event. Our unpaid directors have full time jobs and lives as well. This is a lot of work to add to their plates when we already have a solution that works better and is closer for most attendees.
We are blessed to be the only Tea Party group in the area with a permanent location. That location has given us flexibility and has allowed us to do more than just hold meetings.
I hope you understand and I hope we see you again soon. We always have a general meeting on the second Monday of every month at 7pm.
I STILL HAVE A LOT OF PEOPLE THAT I LOVE THERE IN ORLANDO, BUT MY NEW HOME IS IN ERATH, LA.
I am not sure what prompted this comment, but if you wish to change your email preferences you will find an unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of our emailed messages. We never share or sell our contact list, but you can make changes to your own information. You can even put yourself on an “Out of Area” list. We only contact people on that list if we have a major event worthy of the trip or an important national message needs to be communicated.
Is there any kind of gathering/protest/recognition of April 15th in Orlando? I see the national office says there are 300 of them around the country. Do we have one in Orlando? East Orlando?
If so, details please. I just joined, hope to make the meeting on Monday.
There will be a meeting on Tax Day in April at our activity center. We are not planning to have another public event this month.
